Charlotte Gowdy is an actor, director & educator currently based in Stratford, Ontario.
Her work includes multiple seasons at both the Shaw and Stratford Festivals, acclaimed shows at theatres across Canada including: Canadian Stage, Manitoba Theatre Centre, The Grand Theatre, Neptune Theatre, Theatre NorthWest, Thousand Islands Playhouse, Tarragon, Factory, Theatre Kingston, Nightwood, St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, Fixt Point, Theatre Lac Brome, Troubadour Theatre, Victoria Playhouse, Watermark and the Blyth Festival, among others. Favourite credits include playing Abigail in The Crucible (Shaw Festival); directing Randy Hughson in RED and starring in Venus in Fur (Theatre Kingston); Rita in Educating Rita (TIP); Mary Snow in Salt Water Moon (Blyth Festival) and Associate Director for ROOM (The Grand / Mirvish Productions) Charlotte has also made several television appearances including for CBC television’s Murdoch Mysteries.
Charlotte teaches acting and clown on faculty at Sheridan College (Music Theatre) and Fanshawe College’s School of Performance. She is a guest instructor at schools across the globe including Queen’s University (Kingston), Wheaton College (Boston), Holland College’s SOPA (PEI), the University of P.E.I., and at Unversidad Andres Bello (Santiago, Chile). She regularly teaches workshops for the education department at the Stratford Festival.
A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, The Michael Langham Directing Program, and Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Paris, France, Charlotte is a passionate educator, mentor and student of life!
